The Exile's Launchpad: Two Green Lamps Lit in the Workshop
Third day in the desert
The exile’s launchpad has been in the Codeberg desert for three days now. This desert has its own weather: an 8G disk quota, a shared runner, and an OOM killer that kills without warning. The third day’s campaign circles one thing only — keep the engine alive to the finish line.
The four o’clock autopsy report was unambiguous: the daemon died at mergeExtDexDebug. So came the targeted throttling: workers.max=1, parallel=false, a --stop between steps to release the accumulated heap, and killing the wounded daemon before any gradle retry — the injured are not sent back onto the field.
At nine, the workflow was restructured around the 8G disk quota, and the all-red daemon OOM was forced back; at half past nine, runs-on returned to codeberg-medium with concurrency added; at half past eleven at night, the parallel build configuration was restored — with one target: finish inside the two-hour hard timeout.
Two green lamps in the workshop
The lamp in the desert is not green yet. But tonight, in the home workshop, two rockets rose one after the other.
The first local ignition: the debug build, 37 tasks, 7 minutes 38 seconds, BUILD SUCCESSFUL. The second ignition: the release build, 53 tasks, 8 minutes 12 seconds — R8 minification, resource shrinking, lintVital all passing, EXIT=0.
Two green lamps. After so many days of exile, the first evening with no need to read the cloud’s face.
What the green lamps mean
A local green lamp cannot settle accounts with CI; the cloud lamp is still red. But the green lamps prove one thing: the ship itself can be built. The CI war has now degraded into what it should always have been — a fight with the weather, not with the ship. Memory, disk, timeout: all weather. The ship is sound.
The night is still long. The next ignition in the desert is already queued, and the workshop’s green lamps lit first — the exile’s launchpad now has two battlegrounds, and for the first time, solid ground under its feet.
