The Acceptance War: Five Cards, One Family of Lesions

On the day after the armies triumphed, the commander declined the victory feast and sent all five trophies to the infirmary instead — consulted one by one, dissected at source level, regression-tested with the real parsing model. The results rewrote this workshop’s entire self-confidence.

I. The unified method

The five consultations (Mortal Cultivation, Sword Comes, Against the Gods, Wu Dong Qian Kun, Da Feng Da Geng Ren) shared one forensic flow inherited from the Doupo card MVU war: read ST’s import source to confirm how envelopes are parsed, decompile the MVU extension’s patch parser to confirm the real dialect, run the card’s Schema through a local Zod simulator settling patches one by one, and finish with A/B/C controlled tests on the configured parsing model — the same plot fed the card’s original instructions, format-only fixes, and format-plus-whitelist full fixes, quantifying each layer’s independent destructive power.

II. The family history

The findings showed astonishing commonality — this was not five cards’ separate diseases but one pipeline’s systemic history:

The envelope disease: the cards of Mortal Cultivation, Da Feng, Sword Comes, and Against the Gods were all top-level flat JSON without the spec: chara_card_v2 wrapper (Sword Comes being a malformed V1 hybrid with all fields at top level). ST source confirmed: without spec, everything walks the v1 import branch, keeping only thirteen base fields — thousands of lorebook entries, regexes, MVU/ZOD scripts, and alternate openings all discarded; the import is a pure narrative shell.

The lottery disease: Sword Comes’ 1,177 lorebook entries were all stuffed into one mutual-exclusion inclusion group — in ST, same-group entries keep one at random per round, so the format spec, status bar template, and output iron laws never entered the prompt, and the main model invented values from thin air.

The silence disease: Sword Comes and Against the Gods had not one [mvu_update] marker in their lorebooks, and MVU’s cn() gate requires at least one marked entry in the character’s main lorebook — otherwise extra-model parsing silently skips this character forever, without even an error.

The starvation disease: Against the Gods’ resident content measured 30,264 tokens against a budget of 21,504 (25% of context) — forty percent over; ST fills in order and cuts off silently on overflow, and the first casualties were precisely all instruction entries. The card had never opened a real ST chat at delivery, so it never surfaced.

The inversion disease: the Da Feng consultation dug the deepest shovel — ST’s order sorting is descending-first (b.order - a.order); when the budget runs tight, the smallest order numbers are cut first. The toolkit’s assumption was exactly the reverse (resident MVU at order 30–99, script library at 800+) — the entire order system was upside down; under budget pressure, the rules themselves are the first sacrifice. Alongside: token_budget: 12288 is dead metadata ST never reads, and the correct form of config_override is a disabled entry (the previously enabled:true one in Fanren’s slim version had never worked).

The dead-key disease: Wu Dong and Sword Comes’ script libraries had eighteen-character whole-sentence keys (with pause marks), while ST matches by substring — two-thousand-plus “omniscient script libraries” that could never trigger a single entry; Wu Dong’s four MVU teaching entries were all constant=False with their own titles as trigger words — even with correct syntax, the model would never see the teaching.

III. Fixes and regressions

Every consultation closed with fixes and regression: envelopes given spec, exclusion groups cleared, markers added, ignore_budget applied, the order system inverted and resorted (resident highest, script library lowest), config_override reformed to the correct shape, script-library keys re-extracted by the configured model (median three characters), dead entries made constant, field whitelists and format iron laws written into the teaching entries, and the .catch({}) bombs defused one by one. The regression numbers were the verdict: Sword Comes all green (regexes enabled, variables initialized), Against the Gods’ parse request slimmed from 30,485 to 1,965 tokens, Wu Dong 0/6 to 3/3, Da Feng three consecutive greens (7/7, 7/7, 8/8 on the regular path).

IV. The consultation’s true legacy

This acceptance war’s legacy is not five fixed cards but a lesion genealogy — proof that a pipeline’s “static validation 0 issues” and “actually playable at runtime” are separated by an entire chasm, and that three hidden reefs (ST world-info budget, MVU dialect, import envelope) were charted for the first time. From now on, every new card must pass this genealogy before leaving the factory.
