The Field Manual After Chapter One: Live Measurements from Royal Road Trending, the Pricing Anchor on Patreon, and One Automation Line That Must Not Be Crossed

Four novels cleared their first chapters, and every subsequent choice was re-weighed against the live pages of the Royal Road trending chart. The official "Support the author via Patreon" button overturned the earlier misjudgment about banned links in blurbs — six of eight sampled books carried a Patreon link, because引流 is the ecosystem default. On pricing, $8 was disproven: it only beats $5 if member churn stays below 38 percent, while in cold-start every extra dollar of friction costs far more. The answer is $5 to gather the first two hundred seed members, then raise to $10 for new members only after crossing a hundred, with old members locked at their old price forever. Meanwhile "holding the ending hostage" was sentenced to death on three counts: the RR funnel dies, the comments retaliate, and members quit the moment they finish.
