The Sixth Army: Segment Industrialization and the n-1 Rule

2026-10-10 · ~5 min read · sixth army · The King of Avatar · Xiaohua Bodyguard · segment industrialization

An army’s maturity is measured not by the battles it won but by having written its way of fighting into a standing order.

I. opencode: segment industrialization

The King of Avatar’s scan completed, in opencode’s hands, the evolution from batches to segments. The master session acted like a chief of staff: 173 batches further cut into 346 segments, each with its own prompt file (pipeline/agentic/prompts/), then A through J ten subagent sessions dispatched — six segments each, reading the task order (SUBAGENT_TASK.md), processing per segment rules, writing out JSON. Item zero of the task order is the whole line’s soul: after writing, you must self-check that every evidence string is verbatim-findable in the source text; if not, rewrite to the nearest true sentence or delete it. This iron law welds shut, at the source, the gap of “model free invention” — the quote-repair discipline (yesterday’s 2,971 verbatim, 28 corrected, 0 discarded) is now part of the establishment. Today’s A-to-J sessions all cost 0.0, with 131 segments’ raw output already landed.

II. Xiaohua Bodyguard: a new front and the n-1 rule

ZCode’s sixth army opened a new front in the workshop heartland. Xiaohua Bodyguard is a true giant: 10,363 chapters, some 25 million bytes, cleaned to 10,700 chapters and 24.4 million characters across 1,073 batches. The campaign’s three highlights: first, the concurrency rule — the master decreed an “n-1 mode,” concurrency cap minus one, leaving a slot for other agents; to execute it the engineer built a whole measurement apparatus (staggered probes finding the real ceiling — about five heavy requests before a sixth is instantly 429’d), then restarted the scan at four concurrent with zero 429s throughout. Second, the cleaning of escapees: pagination-duplicated chapter headers, over 4,500 ad lines, twenty-eight “chapter 6950”-style space-variant titles — the cleaning script normalized them one by one. Third, another true toolkit bug: the load_overrides() call-timing flaw (reject overrides never taking effect) reconfirmed and fixed on this project, plus merge audits blasting address bridges (generic appellations like “old master / brother-in-law / mama,” the Kang Zhaolong versus divine-doctor-grandson generational split, the two different “Xiaofen”).

III. Hermes: Sword Comes delivered, Jin Ping Mei chartered

Hermes ran two lines. The Sword Comes line closed: last night’s scan continued today, while the daytime deep inspection (done by ZCode) found three great diseases — the malformed V1 format, the mutual-exclusion groups, the missing markers — and Hermes’ side fixed and packaged them: repaired full and repaired slim dual editions delivered, the version notes listing every fix and usage notice (both authorization popups must be confirmed; the original unrepaired files must not be re-imported). The Jin Ping Mei line opened: the Chongzhen-edition epub reached the desk, chartered at 14:18, the first run hitting the 90-call budget ceiling before resuming — the sixth book, cutting into its mountain on free fuel.

Meanwhile Cline and Kilo, yesterday’s main forces, stood down — Cline leaving only a small-hours “idle” query, Kilo’s session stopped at yesterday. Rest is equally part of the establishment: five books on concurrent lines, six days of free fuel remaining, no need to fire every gun until it glows.
